The Secret of the Lord (Part 3) by Pastor Carl W. Mann, II

Psalm 25:14 (KJV) “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”

Last week we discussed that God has a “Place” where He meets with His “in crowd” – it is at His “Right Hand.”

As I studied the Scriptures, I discovered that the “Secret of the LORD” has a…

  1. Person

As I reflect upon the meaning of the Hebrew word for “Secret,” and I focus on it being a “meeting” that is held at God’s “Right Hand,” I intuitively think, “Who is directing this meeting?”  I am awed by how God’s Word provides the answer!

Scripture teaches us that the “Law of Inheritance” runs through the eldest son.  Because he would have the greater responsibility for maintaining the family ties, traditions, and teachings, the elder son would receive a “double portion” of the father’s inheritance.  It would be the elder son’s responsibility to represent the family patriarch in handling the family business.

NOTE – when you study the Parable of the Prodigal (Luke 15:11-32), you will notice that the “elder son” was angry with the father in the parable for showing mercy and joy at the Prodigal’s return.  Notice what the father says, “…Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found” Luke 15:31-32 (Emphasis Mine).

“All that I have is thine” is a BIG statement!  Because of his position as the “elder son,” he had the power of “binding and loosing” his father’s name in all business propositions and negotiations.  PLUS, it was the “elder son’s” responsibility to gain his younger brother back into the “fold!”

In the Parable of the Prodigal, Jesus was revealing to the Jewish leaders that it was the nation of Israel’s responsibility to “Manifest Righteousness” to the world, AND, it was the leaders’ responsibility to set the correct spiritual example before the people.  However, like the “elder son” in the Parable, the Jewish leaders had dismissed their responsibilities and demanded the respect of the people because of their position rather than deserving their respect because of their passion for God.

Nonetheless, God’s “Elder Son,” Jesus Christ, accepted full responsibility in His Position as God’s Only Begotten Son, and acknowledged His Purpose to gain all the Father’s children, Christ’s younger brothers and sisters, back into the “Fold!”

Luke 19:10 (KJV) “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

John 10:11 (KJV)“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

Jesus, our “Elder Brother,” received a “Double Portion Inheritance” and is faithful to His Father and sets the example to maintain the “Family” ties, traditions, and teachings.  He is also the Representative of all our Father’s “business!”

Matthew 11:27 (KJV) All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” (Emphasis Mine).

Romans 8:16-17 (KJV) “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together” (Emphasis Mine).

1 Corinthians 15:20-28 (KJV) “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all (Emphasis Mine).

Revelation 1:5 (KJV) “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,” (Emphasis Mine)

Jesus Christ, God’s “Elder Son,” is faithful to represent His Father in all things.  He is strategically positioned in the “Elder Son’s Seat of Authority” at the Right Hand of God!

Ephesians 1:15-23 (KJV) “Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all” (Emphasis Mine).

When we consider that the “Secret of the LORD is with them that fear him,” it is not difficult to picture God setting up His “Tent” amid His people and protecting His Presence in the same way we’ve understood earthly kings are protected. Even God’s “in crowd” can only approach His Presence (“Secret”) in the manner prescribed by His Holiness.  He MUST be approached from His “Right Hand!”

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me(Emphasis Mine)

Because we have the privilege of being “Joint Heirs” with Jesus, when we attend the “Secret of LORD” we are blessed to have the full assurance that we will be included in God’s revelatory Word and be privileged to receive His counsel.

Hebrews 10:19-22 “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water” (Emphasis Mine)

The “Person” through Whom the LORD conducts His “Secret” is Jesus Christ, the Father’s Only Begotten Son, Who is seated at His Right Hand!  The “in crowd” must come TO and THROUGH the “Elder Son.”  This leads us to the next aspect of the “Secret of the LORD.”
