At this years’ “Courage” Vacation Bible School, we partnered with Weekday Christian Education to provide Bibles for their program participants. A special anonymous donor challenged the kids to raise at least $400.00 to purchase Bibles and they would match it with another $400.00. The students raised a whopping $655.46 in four nights of VBS offerings. Sis. Kathy Kueber reported that when it all added up, $1,055.46 was raised collectively! That’s enough to purchase 93 Bibles at the cost of $11.25 each. We rounded up the donation amount to $1,125.00 to purchase 100 BIBLES!  THANK YOU TO EVERY CONTRIBUTOR THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE!

MORE ABOUT WEEKDAY CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: Weekday Christian Education partners with 22 elementary schools in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. to offer weekly Christian education classes to all third and fourth grade students.  Roughly 3,500 students are invited to take part in these classes each year, with 27-30% choosing to participate with parental permission. Weekday Christian Education classes are free. They are held during school hours in portable trailers parked immediately off school property or at a nearby church. The three portable trailers are moved to 17 different locations each week. Classes are held Monday – Thursday from September to April. Students are escorted to and from classes by Weekday staff members. Weekday Christian Education is for many students, an introduction to Christianity and the Bible. Lessons taught include God’s eternal love and how He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to provide salvation for them. They learn how to use the Bible, how to pray, the importance of honesty, respect and integrity, and how to be good citizens. When they complete the program as 4th graders, they receive their own Bible to take home to keep.
