The Secret of the Lord (Part 4) by Pastor Carl W. Mann, II

Psalm 25:14 (KJV) “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.”

Last week we discussed that God has a “Person” through Whom He meets with His “in crowd” – He is His “Elder Son,” Jesus Christ.

As I studied the Scriptures, I discovered that the “Secret of the LORD” has a…

  1. Purpose

Why would God desire to share His “Secret” with His “in crowd?”  It appears that there are specific times that God chooses to draw His “in crowd” close to Himself.  There seems to be something important about the rising of the sun…

Genesis 32:24-26 (KJV) “And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me” (Emphasis Mine).

Could it be that the “morning” is a special time wherein angels draw close to worship the LORD?

Job 38:7 (KJV)When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” (Emphasis Mine

Could it be that there is a special time when angels “report” to God?

Job 1:6 (KJV)Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them” (Emphasis Mine).

I do NOT know the complete answers to these questions.  However, I DO know that there are specific times when God sends “Refreshing” from His presence, in which He sends His “Elder Son” to meet with His “in crowd” …

Acts 3:19-20 (KJV) “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:” (Emphasis Mine).

Now, some might say, “Paul is talking about the return of Jesus when he says, ‘he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:’” However this is NOT so.  The Manifest Presence of Jesus is made “known” in those “times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord!”  Recall, and meditate on Scripture…

Psalm 16:11 (KJV) “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore” (Emphasis Mine).

Since we’ve discussed the “Place” and the “Person” present in the “Secret of the LORD,” I think it is most important to discuss and encourage ourselves in the “Purpose” of the LORD’S Secret!

  • Tarrying

I am grateful that out earthly father is still with us as I write this blog!  There are times that I want to obtain his insight as I ponder a decision or direction in my life.  Also, there are times that he “calls me aside” and asks for some of my “time” so he can discuss something of importance on a personal note.  When we spend this time together, it is always in private.  It is then that he shares some very personal, intimate information with me.  Perhaps he expresses his desires for what he wants me to do after he has passed.  Perhaps it is to inform me of personal information he deems crucial for my well-being.  Nonetheless, I value these times.

While our Father does not require our advice, He is most interested in spending some “Secret” time wherein He may give us private counsel.  He always shares what His desires are to prepare us for eternity!

Matthew 6:6 (KJV) “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Emphasis Mine).

  • Training

Have you experienced the value of having a private tutor to help you with learning educational or skilled labor material?  I’ve spent many hours in formal education and training; however, when I could avail myself of personal, professional, and passionate training, my “learning curve” increased dramatically.

So, it is when we enter the “Secret of the LORD,” and Jesus shares His wondrous wisdom with us!

Daniel 2:20-22 (KJV)“Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him” (Emphasis Mine).

I appreciate the wording in the New Century Version…

Daniel 2:20-22 (NCV) “Daniel said: “Praise God forever and ever, because he has wisdom and power. He changes the times and seasons of the year. He takes away the power of kings and gives their power to new kings. He gives wisdom to those who are wise and knowledge to those who understand. He makes known secrets that are deep and hidden; he knows what is hidden in darkness, and light is all around him” (Emphasis Mine).

I’ve always been amused, and sometimes agitated, when students attempted to instruct the instructor.  With God, He does neither NEEDS, nor DESIRES our counsel.  He IS the Teacher, we are His students!  God’s “in crowd” thrives on His Teaching.

Proverbs 1:7 (KJV) “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Emphasis Mine).

God’s “in crowd” knows the value of God’s understanding and they honor Him as the Master, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.  With such knowledge, they never disrupt the “Secret of the LORD” with foolishness. They know they cannot approach God without proper respect for His holiness.

Proverbs 9:10 (KJV) “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” (Emphasis Mine).

We need the “Secret of the LORD” because His “Deep – Discipling” knowledge can only be learned spiritually in “Secret!”

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV) “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (Emphasis Mine).
