Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
Last week we ended our discussion with…
Since I have been “born again,” the Holy Spirit has empowered me to be able to have spiritual sight and receive the Word of God through which to fulfill the mission for which I was created.
Philippians 2:5 (KJV) “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” (Emphasis Added).
Now, all I need to do is ensure that my “Vision” is in harmony with the Father’s!
Robert Woodruff, who was the President of Coca Cola, from 1923 to 1955, a 32-year span, cast the following vision for Coca Cola. Right after World War II, he said, “In my lifetime I want everyone in the world to have tasted Coke.” What is your vision?
As stated earlier, I practice a Biblical world view. This being the case, I desire that my “Vision” be in harmony with the Father’s “Vision.” His “Vision” is simply profound…
John 3:16 (KJV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (Emphasis Added).
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (Emphasis Added).
The Father’s “Vision” is that everyone would acknowledge His Son and Lord and Savior. BUT that is only the beginning! Ultimately, the Father’s “Vision” is that ALL who “call upon the Name of the Lord,” should also be like Jesus.
Romans 8:29 (KJV) “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren” (Emphasis Added).
Now, I cannot save anyone, BUT I can bring my “Vision” into harmony with the Father and the Son to fulfill the Mission for which I was created. This can only be accomplished IF I embrace the “Great Commandment” and the “Great Commission” as presented in Scripture…
Luke 10:27 (KJV) “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”
Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
I truly desire to please God! My “Vision” is to be more like Jesus. The success of my “Vision” depends on two areas – My Priorities & Focus – and these must be developed!
Developing Biblical priorities and perspectives requires…
It is impossible to please God without acknowledging Him and believing in Him!
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” (Emphasis Added).
Once I acknowledge God as being Sovereign, and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I must submit all my “ways” to Him. You see, pleasing God requires God’s assistance.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Emphasis Added).
Acknowledging God in all our ways means turning every area of our life to Him. Jesus emphasized this same principle…
Luke 9:23-24 (KJV) “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it” (Emphasis Added).
We must assess our values and priorities. I take stock of what is important to me. Do I acknowledge God in all areas of my life, or just some? Am I open to His Voice, His Word, to give me advice, or do I dismiss His advice when it causes me discomfort? I have experienced that when I allow God to be vital in my life, He always guides me successfully!
The main reason I need to submit all areas of my life to God is because He is “High and lifted up!” Therefore, to achieve my “Vision” of being like Jesus I must aim high!
Aim High “Life is a leaf of paper white, Whereupon each one of us may write, His word or two, and then comes night. Greatly begin! Though thou have time, But for a line, be that sublime – Not failure, but low aim, is crime!” --James Russell Lowell
Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV) “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Emphasis Added).
“Bad will be the day for every man when he becomes absolutely content with the life he is living, with the thoughts he is thinking, with the deeds he is doing; when there is not forever meeting at the doors of his soul some great desire to do something larger, which he knows that he was meant and made to do because he is still the child of God.” –Phillips Brooks
